House without door handles
Near one of the most famous chateaus in the Czech Republic stands a new building, which thanks to its unusual shape attracts attention. The family house is L-shaped with a bevelled outer corner, which is entirely glazed. It offers a majestic panoramic view.
The usable area of the two-story villa is an impressive 400 m2. On the ground floor, which is partly built below the ground level, there are utility spaces such as a garage, utility room, dressing rooms or purpose-built warehouses. A long corridor connecting to the vestibule leads to the part of the house dedicated to free-time activities - the gym, indoor pool and Finnish sauna. From the vestibule, a staircase rises to the second floor, which opens directly into a large central room combining the living room, dining room and kitchen.
In the interior, natural and raw materials were given the main role. The ceiling made of exposed concrete, which was purposely covered with unplaned wooden planks that were used as formwork, is a clear highlight. The overall minimalist interior design also resulted in an effort to minimize the furniture so that nothing disturbed the final impression. Freestanding furniture is therefore thinly represented in the realisation.
For the door, the fittings were chosen in a titanium black matt finish, which perfectly matches the interior. In order to maintain the minimalist style that is everywhere, the investor also chose the Magnetic minimalist system, which does not require a handle to operate it, but makes do with a minimalist handle. Magnetic works purely on the principle of magnets built into the door leaf and their counterpart in the door frame. When the two parts come close together, the door opens smoothly and only the magnetic force holds the door frame firmly in place, without any projectile being ejected. Therefore, a handle is not needed to open the door, but a handle grip is sufficient. For the Magnetic system, investor Martin Hebík chose the subtle pull handle YES!, which is also available in a version with a toilet - WC/bathroom lock integrated directly into the handle design. The lock does not disturb the design purity of the door.
"For the interior doors, I used a new system - Magnetic with pull handles YES!, where there are no more handles and the doors are opened with contactless magnets. At first, I was bothered by the noisier pressing of the seal when the door opens, but by simply adjusting the distance of the magnets, which adjusts the force of the opening, the noise was eliminated. The whole system works perfectly and the YES! pull handles on the door look great. I consider it to be a good investment with long-term utility value without the need for later servicing," concludes investor Martin Hebík.
